Kelly is a highly experienced lawyer, having more than 22 years of civil litigation and dispute resolution experience. Kelly has worked on a number of large and complex construction litigation matters, involving large scale electronic discovery.
Currently, Kelly is engaged by SG Legal Services, where she manages electronic discovery for clients, and also provides research assistance to barrister Simon Gerber. From 2000 to 2007, Kelly worked as a Senior Associate with Allens Arthur Robinson (now Allens Linklaters), predominantly in their Melbourne office, but also on secondment to Allens’ Perth office.
The significant matters that Kelly worked on include:
- Minerva Gas Plant Litigation – Acted for BHP Billiton in multi-party Supreme Court litigation regarding the design and construction of its Minerva gas plant and pipeline project in Victoria's Otways involving claims in excess of $80 million. Senior associate in charge of the discovery process. In conjunction with e.law, Kelly supervised a team of 5 barristers, who were retained to complete the subjective review of documents, using an electronic evidence management system.
- Longford Litigation – Acted for United Energy on behalf of the gas businesses of the Energy Partnership in the class action following the conclusion of the Royal Commission into the explosion at Esso's Longford gas processing facility (which curtailed the supply of gas to Melbourne).
- Melbourne Water ats Toll – Acted for Melbourne Water against claim by Toll that Melbourne Water caused damage by issuing erroneous flood water statements.
- Various Insurance matters - whilst in the Perth Office she advised both insurers and insureds on property damage and business interruption/economic loss claims and defended Directors and Officers involved in commercial litigation.
